Recently, the South Korean giant Samsung has developed a new 8GB DDR4 RAM chip, and as you have already imagined it is faster, it consumes less energy and full of other benefits. And not only that even they have made it smaller, hence, becoming the smallest in the world of its kind.

The South Korean giant Samsung has a new 8GB DDR4 RAM chip, and as you have already imagined it is faster, it consumes less energy and full of other benefits. Now many of you will wonder what is the novelty of this new RAM chip? The novelty is that the South Korean giant Samsung has squeezed its manufacturing process on 10nm to give us a significant improvement without making the leap to a new technology.
Yes, in 2018 the South Korean giant Samsung Samsung will debut its second-generation 10nm manufacturing technology and this DRAM chip will be the first to take advantage of it. Where in spite of the fact that it is an adjustment to the process used during this 2017, they have made it even smaller, becoming the smallest in the world of its kind. Everything an achievement.

However, now let’s go to the figures. According to the South Korean giant Samsung, this chip is 15% more efficient in energy consumption and 10% faster than the previous generation, in addition to the company has perfected the manufacturing process by 30%, which will make it easier to manufacture and have immediate availability, in order to be faced with a reduction in costs and prices for the consumer.
It has been only 20 months since we met the previous generation of the South Korean giant Samsung’s DRAM chips, with which they launched the 10nm process. Many expected the company to make the jump to 7 or 8 nanometers, but apparently, they want to take it easy because right now they have no one to overshadow them in this section.
The South Korean giant Samsung has also confirmed that during 2018 it will start with the tests within manufacturing processes over 8nm, in what seems to be a simple and natural change to have perfected the 10nm. On the other hand, the technology of 7nm will remain pending for a few more years because the adoption of ultraviolet lithography is getting complicated.

Now the next thing will be to adapt the rest of its chips to this 10nm process of second generation, which will begin to migrate first the high performance platforms like DDR5, HBM3, LPDDR5 and GDDR6, focusing on servers, supercomputers, HPC systems and GPUs of high performance, as well as smartphones, where they seek not to give ground.
The South Korean giant Samsung also confirming that the manufacture of chips under 10nm first generation technology will continue during 2018, which will seek to supply channels so there is no shortage and thus continue to gain market share.

Pre-Installed Password Manager On Windows 10 Lets Hackers Steal All Your Passwords

Pre-Installed Password Manager On Windows 10 Lets Hackers Steal All Your Passwords

If you are running Windows 10 on your PC, then there are chances that your computer contains a pre-installed 3rd-party password manager app that lets attackers steal all your credentials remotely.

Starting from Windows 10 Anniversary Update (Version 1607), Microsoft added a new feature called Content Delivery Manager that silently installs new “suggested apps” without asking for users’ permission.

According to a blog post published Friday on Chromium Blog, Google Project Zero researcher Tavis Ormandy said he found a pre-installed famous password manager, called “Keeper,” on his freshly installed Windows 10 system which he downloaded directly from the Microsoft Developer Network.
Ormandy was not the only one who noticed the Keeper Password Manager. Some Reddit users complainedabout the hidden password manager about six months ago, one of which reported Keeper being installed on a virtual machine created with Windows 10 Pro.

Critical Flaw In Keeper Password Manager

Knowing that a third-party password manager now comes installed by default on Windows 10, Ormandy started testing the software and took no longer to discover a critical vulnerability that leads to “complete compromise of Keeper security, allowing any website to steal any password.”

“I don’t want to hear about how even a password manager with a trivial remote root that shares all your passwords with every website is better than nothing. People really tell me this,” Ormandy tweeted.

The security vulnerability in the Keeper Password Manager was almost identical to the one Ormandy discovered and reported in the non-bundled version of the same Keeper plugin in August 2016 that enabled malicious websites to steal passwords.

“I checked and, they’re doing the same thing again with this version. I think I’m being generous considering this a new issue that qualifies for a ninety day disclosure, as I literally just changed the selectors and the same attack works,” Ormandy said.

To explain the severity of the bug, Ormandy also provided a working proof-of-concept (PoC) exploit that steals a user’s Twitter password if it is stored in the Keeper app.

Install Updated Keeper Password Manager

Ormandy reported the vulnerability to the Keeper developers, who acknowledged the issue and released a fix in the just released version 11.4 on Friday by removing the vulnerable “add to existing” functionality.

Since the vulnerability only affects version 11 of the Keeper app, which was released on December 6 as a major browser extension update, the vulnerability is different from the one Ormandy reported six months ago.

Keeper has also added that the company has not noticed any attack using this security vulnerability in the wild.

As for Windows 10 users, Ormandy said users wouldn’t be vulnerable to the password theft unless they open Keeper password manager and enable the software to store their passwords.

However, Microsoft still needs to explain how the Keeper password manager gets installed on the users’ computers without their knowledge.

Meanwhile, users can use this registry tweak to disable Content Delivery Manager in order to prevent Microsoft from installing unwanted apps silently on their PCs.

Chrome Will Start Blocking Ads From February 15

Chrome Will Start Blocking Ads From February 15

Chrome Will Start Blocking Ads From February 15- solutionrider
Google Chrome to start blocking ads which are not compliant with its ‘Better Ads Standards’ from 15 February. Although Google is primarily an advertising company, it has announced that starting from 15 February 2018, certain ads on Google Chrome will be blocked. This block includes Google’s own ads as well. This plan, called as the ‘Better Ads Experience Program’, was announced back in June of this year.
However, this is only for those websites which do not pass Google’s ‘Better Ads Standards‘. This means ads which are overly annoying, pop out unexpectedly, open new tabs, involuntarily play sound and video will no longer be shown.

Other ads compliant with the Better Ads Standards, will be displayed without problems. Ad Standard violations are reported via the Ad Experience Report, and those who have violated the policy can submit their site for revaluation after the problems have been fixed.

The offending websites will be given a period of 30 days to fix their ads after which Google Chrome will remove the ads on the website.

This strategy will help Chrome users have a good, clean viewing experience of the internet and also force the websites to provide a better ad experience if they wish to stay in business.

Let’s hope that Google manages to accomplish both the tasks without a lot of hassle.

Facebook Now Lets You Know If You're In Pphotos Even If You're Not Tagged

Facebook Now Lets You Know If You're In Pphotos Even If You're Not Tagged- solutionrider
If you’re one of those poor saps who often gets told you look like someone else, get ready for a barrage of notifications from Facebook saying someone uploaded a photo of you.
That, at least, is the worst-case scenario for Facebook’s latest feature, which automatically notifies you if anyone uploads a photo that looks like you’re in it. In line with ongoing advancements in facial recognition technology, Facebook will do this even if you’re not tagged.
The feature likely won’t be as annoying as described above, as Facebook’s announcement post claims it only notifies you if “you’re in a photo and part of the audience for that post,” which presumably means if it was taken by a friend or a friend of a friend.
It’s also not exactly a new feature; rather, it’s a new application of an existing one. In Facebook’s words, it’s “powered by the same technology we’ve used to suggest friends you may want to tag in photos or videos.”
Naturally there are fun reasons for a feature like this, such as when someone posts of a photo from a family outing you may have attended, allowing you to keep a photo you may not have seen otherwise. Facebook adds that the new feature improves the site’s accessibility options for visually impaired users, as it allows the app to describe who’s in the photo even if everyone isn’t tagged.

Caught in the act

But Facebook doesn’t shy from explaining that this service could also be used to catch people who are using photos for less-than-wholesome purposes, such as using your photo as their Facebook profile photo.
“We’re doing this to prevent people from impersonating others on Facebook,” Facebook says, referring to a common problem that’s more colloquially known as “catfishing.”
If you don’t want Facebook to recognize your face, though, you’ll soon be able to disable the site’s ability to refer to your profile photos and videos for identification purposes.
You won’t be granted the same level of control over this feature as you get with Facebook’s labyrinthine privacy settings, though, as the option merely comes with a “simple on/off switch” that will shut down the whole feature.

Opera Software Changes Name To Otello Corporation

Opera Software Changes Name To Otello Corporation

Opera Software Changes Name To Otello Corporation- solutionrider
Reuters is reporting that Opera Software ASA — the Norwegian company best known for its web browser — is rebranding to Otello Corporation. The company says it intends to change its stock ticker on the Oslo Bourse, although it’s yet to come up with a new symbol.
This move is likely because Opera Software ASA — sorry, Otello Corporation — wants to distinguish itself from its browser business, which it sold to group of Chinese investors in 2016.
Android is an operating system that allows full customization accessibility to software and apps that are used. We are not stuck with any app and we can choose which ones we want to use.
This allows us to switch Chrome from any browser, one of the best alternatives being Opera. This browser has now been revamped and gives the user a much better user experience.
As earlier, we reported that how Opera has been looking for a long time to improve its browser, in all versions and in the various supported systems. Its experience has worked a lot for users and the news is many. This time they focused on the Android version, having redesigned its entire interface, to give the user a better use and experience.
The first change is even in the Opera interface, which becomes more personal and even more user-friendly. There is an area called “For You”, which gives direct access to news and information that Opera understands to be useful to the user.
Based on Artificial Intelligence, choose the news based on the use of the browser. The more you use it, the more accurate it will be.
However, now apart from its browser app, if someone asks you to quote a company that has the same name as its main product, the answer can no longer be “Opera Software”. Recently, the company confirmed that it is changing its name to Otello Corporation. With the browser, however, nothing changes.
As Opera Software (actually, Opera Software ASA) is a company with a lot of market time, the change of name causes strangeness. But Lars Boilesen, the CEO of Opera Software, explained to “The Next Web” that the new name is part of a legal agreement. What? It is good to go back to the past to understand.
In 2015, a consortium formed mainly by Chinese companies Beijing Kunlun Tech and Qihoo 360 made a $1.2 billion bid to acquire Opera Software. But the deal was not approved by regulatory agencies, prompting the consortium to make a lower offer of $600 million to buy only parts of Opera Software.
The offer was made in July 2016 and approved in November of the same year. With the deal, the Chinese consortium eventually became the owner of Opera Software, which handles products for final consumers. Consequently, the consortium also became responsible for Opera browsers.
Note that despite not responding more browsers, Opera Software continues to operate, but in other businesses. The name change, according to Boilesen, was necessary because the Chinese consortium also acquired rights over the Opera brand, which is why the agreement already provided for changes.
It is clear, therefore, that the Otello Corporation (the name is a reference to the opera of the same name) is now representing the parts not bought by the Chinese consortium. These include businesses in areas such as games, online ads and telecommunications, hence, the name change will be gradual.
Boilesen is also a strategic adviser to the Chinese consortium. Thus, it is presumed that there will still be links from Otello Corporation to Opera browsers, at least for some time.
